Clark High School Science / Language Classrooms / Studio Arts Addition
Plano Independent School District
Plano, Texas

The Master Plan for Clark High School provides a framework for sequential improvements, which increase the student capacity from 1,300 to 1,700 with the corresponding increase in square footage from 184,195 SF to 278,695 SF. The goal was to provide an overall plan for renovation and expansion to meet new district educational specifications. The plan illustrated an initial phase followed by seven subsequent phases to be implemented sequentially over two school years and three summers. One of the primary concepts of the Master Plan was to reorient the main entry from the south side of the building to the north, thus providing an inviting entry plaza related to bus drop-off and visitor parking areas.

The initial phase, now completed, provided a new band hall plus a two-story, 54,500 sq.ft. wing containing ten science labs, two science prep rooms, ten language classrooms, one technical application classroom, three studio arts classrooms, kiln room and associated support facilities. The initial phase establishes the aesthetic theme for future additions including maximum use of natural light and inviting, clearly identified entrances framing the future entry plaza.

Clark High School Master Plan and the Science / Language Classrooms / Studio Arts Addition are projects of Powell/PSP Architects, an association of Milton Powell & Partners and PageSoutherlandPage.
